Does anyone out there have info on aftermarket tachs for the LT 1700? ie: which will work and which are best?
Thanks,
Paul

Hey Paul, welcome aboard.

The LT and Commanders are 5 volt at the coil. So the standard aftermarket 12 v tachs will not work. The only unit I could find to fit the bill was from Speedhut.com, their tachs work from .5 volts up to 60 volts.

Speedhuts are not motorcycle specific but, I along with a few other owners are running these with no issues. The one I'm running is an 8000 rpm gauge.

Have a look around their website, these are customizable. colors, lighting, logos. I ordered a 2 5/8. They have a lot to choose from.
Do a Google search, tach for Triumph LT for a few links to the modifications.

It's a shame they didn't offer an option for a tach like the America/ Speedmaster.

G'Day again Fellas,

Have just fitted the Tacko bracket to the Lt :seems to have taken forever to get the son to finish it.
I suppose it's like the rest of us fathers who r not paying the boss to get the job done.
Lucky as he just changed employer. All that garbage aside I can't seem to upload the photo they are saying file to big.
Computer skills r very limited any suggestions how to reduce the photos on an apple to display finished bracket.

Jackco.

Jacko you need to resize the photo, either by using a free online resize program (google) or if you have a smartphone take a photo with that, send it to your own email, it will ask you what size, you can choose one of the smaller sizes offered, send it, save it to a file.

That was the first successful photo resize .Yeha!

Hope this gives any interested tachometer purchasers one idea of how to mount the speedhut tacho securely.
I added a bit of length the Allenkey stainless bolts and cut 2 pieces of stainless pipe to be the spacers and raise the bracket a few mm for ease to clean.

Sorry it took so long to post the photos, next step is to work out how to hook up the wiring.

Cheers Jackco

Jacko. Resize might be ok. but Orientation is pretty "not Ok" I cant turn my monitor on its side and don't particular like standing up looking side ways at the computer.

Try re Orientating them before you upload them.
